THE WHY BEHIND cARL’S dRAGLINE sERVICE..
Like all great things, the story of Carl’s Dragline Service (CDS) begins in 2004.
At this time, Carl had reached 30 years of experience in operating heavy equipment, with a particular emphasis on draglines.
He wanted to one day own and operate a dragline. And he did just that he established Carl’s Dragline Service, as he could envision the need and future growth in the industry for these machines.
He began with a humble 595 American Dragline that would eventually become the icon of Carl’s Dragline Service — and “Sweetie” would become its name. Carl used the 595 to service and clean ponds for the sand and gravel, agricultural and industrial market.
CDS would go on to acquire a 597 American Dragline, a 190 D Northwest Dragline, and an 88 Bucyrus Erie by 2008.
The family of machines kept growing, alongside the services that CDS could offer. From the beginning, Carl developed his business into an efficient and reputable dragline company.
Carl’s Dragline Service has developed and tested a new type of bucket for the dragline that allows for the removal of vegetation from ponds and other water ways with little to no permanent impact on the surrounding environment.
This would later become a pathway for the job opportunity with the Phoenix Zoo where his business would do the removal of cattails and other debris from the main lake.
The operations performed at the Phoenix Zoo were done in a manner that had low impact on the zoo’s exhibits.
Other jobs would go on to include but not limit to jobs done in Locket Springs - Williams, AZ as well as other projects such as Rousseau Farming around the valley.
Carl’s Dragline Service has had and maintained several projects with sand and gravel operations such as Phoenix Sand Man, Lafarge North America, ASARCO, Salt River, PMG, Desert Aggregates, and Cemex.
